This issue is dedicated to the memory of Katy Bernal and Harris Schenker.  Katy dignified our game with her presence for fifty years.  She epitomized the essence of Southern charm, grace, and good humor.  Harris we knew for a far shorter period of time but what particularly impressed us was the equanimity with which he received the news he had a terminal condition.  He continued to play bridge and stay on an even keel despite a deteriorating condition.

Katy’s regular partners included Anna Buchanan, Bettie Riley, Patricia Taylor, Dot Blue, Sue Fort and Katy’s sister Anne Trickey  Harris primarily played with his wife Caryll, but since he always made himself available as a last minute fill-in partner for the directors he had partners too numerous to mention.  He recently made Gold Life Master of which he was very proud.

An icon of our family Katy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. While he was a new member to our family Harris was equally unforgettable.  Until later, Katy and Harris, goodbye; we loved you both.
